Turning in to our parents
Do you ever have the day when you say, When did I turn in to my parents? AAAAAAAA!
The other day I was having lunch with my brother and we were talking about growing up and how things are now and so on. I was asking about his wife and them moving in our house, one day, and just about life. If you know us and how we grew up, you would know that we can get a little crazy about having a clean house, thanks to our dad. He was the white glove type and unfortunately or fortunately for our families it rubbed off on us. When we were growing up we absolutely hated all the cleaning, closets, under beds, dusting, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! He would always tell us, "Here, let me show you how to do it!" You know when your a kid and you just wipe around things? Well my dad would come and check and then make us move everything and do it over again. Ugh!
Anyway, we got on the topic and he tells me that when he is over at her parents house and they are cleaning that he helps them so that he can show them how to do it. He looked at me and said, " They have crumbs under the toaster!" and then he says, " They don't move things, they just wipe around them." So at that point he tells me that he says to them, " Here, let me show you how to do it!" Oh my how I was rollin'! That is the funniest thing I have ever heard. I just looked at him and said, " Oh, Brandon, you are so DAD!" The smile my brother gave me was priceless!
Yes, we are a little on the OCD side. Sorry! Good thing is I only feel that way about my own house, I couldn't care less about other people's. I will have to admit, I am thankful now that I learned to keep my house in order and my things nice. As Mckenzee would say, "Don't judge me!".
